Is your email revenue normal? Score yourself in ten seconds.

Whether you're doing $50K a month or $600K a month, the benchmark is the same: a healthy ecommerce brand should be getting at least 40% of its revenue from email.

If you're sitting at 15 to 20%, you're not "normal". You're underperforming, and the gap between your number and 40% is pure profit being left on the table. It is revenue from people you already paid to acquire, on a channel you already own.

How to check your number right now

Open Klaviyo, go to your Business Performance Summary, set the conversion metric to Placed Order, and look at attributed revenue as a percent of total. That one number is your score.

The part nobody tells you: flows aren't always the answer

Everyone preaches flows, and flows matter. But flows aren't always what push you past the benchmark. Campaigns do.

Brands with a real community send campaigns people actually want to open, and they beat flow-heavy brands every single time. We have clients pulling over 60% of their revenue from Klaviyo, not because of some hidden hack, but because their campaigns are that good and they've already built a community around the brand.

For other brands, flows carry most of the revenue. It depends on what kind of brand you're running. But if you have a good community and you're not sending banger campaigns, you're leaving so much revenue on the table it's not even funny.

What the benchmark looks like in real accounts

These are our clients' numbers, from their own Klaviyo dashboards with Placed Order attribution:

So go check your Klaviyo number right now. If it's under 40%, start with the two levers that move it fastest: the full flow stack and a real campaign rhythm.
